SU Professor signing copies of book Thursday

SU Professor signing copies of book Thursday

SU College of Education Professor and MacArthur Genius Grant winner Lisa Delpit  will sign copies of her book "Multiplication is for White People: Raising Expectations for Other People's Children."

The booksigning will be held Thursday, May 2 at 2 p.m. at the John B. Cade Library on Southern University's campus.

Delpit will read excerpts from her book which has sold more than 200,000 copies and called one of  the top 10 books related to the education of children by the American School Board Journal.

Delpit’s book reflects on two decades of reform efforts — including No Child Left Behind, standardized testing, the creation of alternative teacher certification paths, and the charter school movement — that have still left a generation of poor children of color feeling that higher educational achievement isn't for them.
