Officials investigate duplex fire as arson
BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB)- Fire officials are investigating a suspected arson after a house caught fire Thursday morning.
It sparked in the 12000 block of Shay Avenue in Baton Rouge around 5:30 a.m.
The Baton Rouge Fire Department said the building is actually a duplex.
Investigators said they believe the fire was intentionally set.
They reported it started in one unit and the flames spread to the other.
No one was home at the time of the fire.
It caused about $50,000 worth of damage.
The investigation is ongoing.
