BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB)- Authorities have arrested the man they think was captured on surveillance video throwing a dog over the fence at a Baton Rouge animal rescue facility.
The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office reported Richard Hawn, 38, was booked into the parish prison early Wednesday morning.
Deputies said they were contacted by an anonymous caller Tuesday evening after seeing a report on the news.
The caller gave deputies Hawn's name and where he could be found.
He is accused of throwing a dog over the fence at the Capital Area Animal Welfare Society (CAAWS) on Quinn Drive Saturday evening.
The sheriff's office said it had not previously been contacted about the incident.
Hawn is charged with cruelty to animals and traffic warrants.
