Many of you are already in Washington, D.C or getting ready to leave for the Presidential Inauguration on Monday, Jan. 21. Send us your photos showing your experiences everything from takeoff or departure to visiting the various tourists sites to attending Inauguration balls or parties or witnessing the swearing-in ceremony.

Rep. Ted James sponsoring presidential debate watch party downtown

State Rep. Ted James and D.J. Marquis are sponsoring a presidential debate watch party Wednesday, Oct. 3 at Galvez Plaza in downtown Baton Rouge.

"This is a bipartisan event," James tells 9News Neighborhoods. "We want to invite folks to come out  to have dialogue about the issues and how it impacts them."

The debate is the first of three between President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney. The watch party will be held from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

It will include a live band and light refreshments.  Voter registration will also be available for those who need it.

"We're going to do this for each debate," James says.

If it rains, the watch party will be held at Hotel Indigo, 200 Convention Street downtown.

State Rep. Alfred Williams is hosting a presidential debate watch party on Wednesday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m.  The watch party will be held at the Match Box Cafe and Lounge,  1424 North Acadian Thruway West, in Baton Rouge.

"We're inviting everybody," Williams tells 9News Neighborhoods.  "We just going to watch the debate and allow people to discuss what was debated and how they feel about it."

This will be the first of three debates between President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney . Willilams says he chose the restaurant because the debate will focus on domestic policy and he hopes small lbusinesses will be included in that discussion.

"We want to get the commuity engaged," he says.

The event will feature free food. It is open to the public.

BRCC holding Voter Registration Drives

BRCC holding Voter Registration Drives

September is National Voter Registration Month. And as Americans, no right is more precious than the constitutional right to select our leaders. Yet many eligible Louisiana citizens are not even registered to vote.

With this in mind, Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC), hopes to increase the level of participation and engagement of the BRCC community in the upcoming elections by holding several Voter Registration Drives.

All BRCC, students, faculty, and staff, who attend the event will have access to voter registration forms, instructions, and eligibility resources.

The dates and times are listed below:

Wednesday, September 19, from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.,

Friday, September, 21, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Tuesday, October 2, from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Wednesday, October 3, from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Thursday, October 4, from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

To vote in November's presidential election, you must be registered at least one month before election day. For more information on this event, call 216-8247.

Democrats celebrate President Obama's birthday

The Obama for America Louisiana campaign headquartered in downtown Baton Rouge held a birthday party for President Obama complete with a lifesize photo and birthday cake on Saturday, Aug. 4.  The President turned 51 years old.

Early Voting underway

Early voting for the April 21 elections is underway until April 14 in East Baton Rouge Parish.

Voting is held at the Registrar of Voters office in each parish from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

A photo ID is required.

One of the biggest items on the ballot is the property tax designed to keep the Capital Area Transit System afloat  in East Baton Rouge Parish.

CATS faces a $2.1 million budget deficit if voters reject the tax.
